For Kimberly, Technical Advisor to the Chief of Staff at Oracle, the 15+ years that she’s looked at organizations and the problems that come as part of their growth and opportunities, have given her the experience to know exactly what she needs from a work environment to thrive. “I enjoy process improvement and problem solving, just trying to figure out how to put the right solution into the right group. I’m not a fan of being in teams that are highly operationalized and not moving at the speed of light. I look for opportunities like the one I’m in right now, because that’s where I thrive,” Kimberly explains.
A member of Oracle since August 2017, Kimberly knows well what makes her thrive as part of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure team: “Being part of a startup-type organization allows us to fail fearlessly, move fast, and be able to try new things. I love the fact that you walk in everyone in the organization is helping you solve problems; they’re listening to what you have to say, they’re asking for recommendations, they’re empowering you to help drive towards solutions.”
Based in Seattle, the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure team enjoys the Northwest to the fullest. “Seattle’s very diverse because of all the big companies that are here. No matter what sport you play, you’ll probably be able to play it here. No matter what your cultural tastes are, you’ll find something you’ll like in Seattle. You can walk down the hill and take a ferry to one of Seattle’s islands, such as Vashon, Whidbey, or Camano. You can find a little bit of everything here,” Kimberly shares.
Last but not least, working at Oracle lets Kimberly devote some of her time to one of her passions: women’s mentorship. “I’m part of the Women of OCI group; I’m big on mentoring women both inside and outside of OCI. I don’t find a glass ceiling here. As a female, I feel like my voice here is heard as much as my counterparts. I don’t walk into a room and worry I am not going to be taken seriously; they’re more worried about me being the right person for driving them towards the right solution,” says Kimberly.
Thriving at the speed of light is always a possibility at Oracle for driven, innovative, and self-starting tech professionals.
