Career journeys @Oracle Sweden: Tuva, Senior Engineering Manager

We've asked Tuva, Senior Software Development Manager to give us an insight into her experience with Oracle and the great career path she has had within the company. Read on the first part of the interview!

HI Tuva! Thank you for accepting to do this interview for the Recruitment team! Let's start with introducing yourself and giving us an overview of your current role at Oracle!

 "Hi! My name is Tuva and I am currently Senior Engineering Manager for two teams in the Java Platform organization. I have worked with Oracle for more than 13 years. I started off as a Software Engineer in the Compiler team, but have had various roles after that, like Head Product Manager for Exalogic, Partner Manager for Intel, etc etc. I have worked in most of the teams in Java Platform Group over the years. It has always been very challenging and fun!"

"I am currently Manager for two teams in the Java Platform Group: Java SE Serviceability and Java Mission Control. Hi Konstantin! Thank you for accepting to do this interview for the Recruitment team! Let's start with introducing yourself and giving us an overview of your current role at Oracle!

“Hello everybody! My name is Konstantin, but my friends call me Kostya. I am part of the Product Development organization focusing on Java Platform and mainly Java ME and Small Embedded Product and Tools development. Currently, I am in a Director position managing the team of senior engineers and managers in the St.Petersburg Development Center at Oracle Russia.

So, when did you start at Oracle and what has been your evolution so far?

My team and I have joined Oracle through the Sun Microsystems acquisition. I was in a Senior SW Development Manager role at that time and I have been recently promoted to the SW Development Director.

Tell us a few things about the organization that you're leading and about the career opportunities.

A Movember to Remember!

The moustaches came in all shapes and sizes - there were Hungarian, Dali, Imperial, Freestyle, Handlebars, Horseshoes – so many varieties of facial fuzz, it was hard to keep up! One thing for sure, the men of Oracle took their moustache growing very seriously during the month of Movember as the finest facial hair and the most marvellous Mo’s sprouted up around Oracle Offices in Dublin and Malaga.

Movember is an annual charity campaign which asks men to grow a moustache throughout the month of November to raise money and awareness for men’s health. It specifically funds programmes for testicular and prostate cancer and the men who are affected by the disease...

Hello all! My name is Gabriel, I am a Hardware Sales Rep based in Sweden. I joined Oracle in November 2012 after working with hardware sales for four years at another large American IT company.

When I was offered a job at Oracle during the fall of 2012 there was no hesitation to accept the offer. What made me accept the offer from Oracle was the possibility of working for a company that has a unique ability to offer its customers hardware and software solutions spanning from applications to disk.

My current role at Oracle is to sell Oracle Hardware e.g. Servers, Storage and Engineered Systems to the entire public sector in Sweden...

Cutting edge technology, a lone Movember ranger and a 5-a-side football club ...meet the team at Oracle’s Belfast Offices.


To see what’s in store at Oracle’s next Open Day which comes to Belfast this week, I visited the offices with some colleagues to meet the team and get a feel for what‘s in store on November 29th.

After being warmly greeted by Frances and Francesca, who make sure Front of House and Facilities run smoothly, we embarked on a quick tour of the 2 floors Oracle occupies, led by VP Bo, it was time to seek out some willing volunteers to be interviewed/photographed - what a shy bunch! A bit of coaxing from the social media team was needed here...
