Why Oracle Direct Sales Consulting is the place for you to work by Toni Yague

I joined Oracle Direct in 1996 on a role that when I look back now has long disappeared. What I did not expect back then is that I would end up leading a team of top Technology Sales Consultants covering over 70 internal Sales reps for the UK and Ireland.

Exciting journey

What I did not imagine back then either is the scale of knowledge and skill that Oracle has helped me acquire throughout the 18 years that I have been here. It has been a truly exciting journey and it is getting even more and more exciting every day. Now I am looking at the future from a feeling of being on top of the world in the best possible company that will motivate anyone that wants to be involved in using or adopting the latest IT technology and applying the best selling methodologies.

Industry Leader

Oracle has been amongst the Industry leaders on the 95% of the products it sells, for years and will continue to be for years to come. No one has the ability to acquire the top market leading products and integrate them so solidly and transparently like Oracle does. No other company offers the best product portfolio, the best integrated products, no matter what industry you look at like Oracle does. When Oracle says they will be the 1st on something, you bet, it’s going to happen. The latest challenge now is become number 1 in Cloud, whether SaaS, PaaS or IaaS, only Oracle has what is needed to do it without depending on 3rd party suppliers. The only company that caters for big and small customers equally.

“I have been in the Software Industry for 4 years now. My previous job was as a Field Sales Rep on SMB Accounts in Paris and now I’m a HCM Inside Sales Rep for Named Accounts. Being at Oracle allows me to sell a large range of HCM Products, covering aspects from Talent Management (how to develop and train your employees), the Recruitment process (how to detect new Talents for your organization, through normal methods or even thanks to the advantages of the Social networks), to Compensations & Benefits. Oracle is a place that brings together talented people from various countries and with a diversity of backgrounds. We often invite our employees to speak about their life at Oracle as we think It is important to share an insight into what working for our company looks like.

This time we asked Stanislav to speak about his experience at Oracle. He is Technology Sales Manager at Oracle Russia. He joined the company in July 2011 as a Sales Representative for the Financial sector and had previously worked for another American IT company. He was promoted to a Management position in 2013.

“I have been in this Industry for 15 years and I am now Technology Sales Manager, covering Database, BI and Fusion Middleware products. What I’ve learned in my role is that respect is one of the most important values a good professional should have. By respecting and embracing everyone’s opinions, we create a very good work environment that encourages innovation and change. It eventually leads to a stronger team where people listen to each other and value each other’s opinion. On the other hand, It is mandatory to have good knowledge about the area you work in and to continously seek to improve your expertise. Last but not least, working as a team is a top priority and It is something that I’ve learned at Oracle. There’s little you can achieve by yourself comparing to what you can do when you’re part of a team.”

Stanislav shared the top three words that best describe his team and those were: professional, dynamic and smart...[Read More]

Congratulations to Joana, the Most Helpful person in Oracle Direct EMEA Q3

We are pleased that the Oracle Direct employees are committed to helping their colleagues whenever they see an opportunity to do so! Every quarter we invite them to nominate a colleague for the ‘Most Helpful’ Person in the team award and we’re always amazed by the huge number of positive answers and the great feedback people give about their peers. We congratulate Joana for having been awarded the ‘Most Helpful’ Person FY14Q3!.

Joana is part of the Core Technology Sales French Team and she’s an asset to the EMEA group! She is always helping and taking time to answer her peers’ questions. With a very curious personality, she is aware of the Oracle rules regarding approvals, territories, communication plan, HR etc and she’s always willing to share her knowledge. Her advice is always appreciated and wise and she’s not just helping her team, but every single person who’s coming to her. Her leadership and communication skills are very strong and also highly appreciated by her colleagues.

It was a challenge to select just a few thoughts out of the huge number of answers we got from Joana's colleagues. However, here's what they say about her:

Joana is just the most helpful person I know in the office. If I have a question, especially about the process, she is the first person I will go to ask for help. Actually, all my colleagues advised me to do so because they do the exact same! Joana always finds a way to dedicate time to others, and with a smile on top of that!...

Francis joined Oracle in 2012 as a Business Development Manager. As of June this year he moved to an Application Sales Representative role focusing on Public Sector, Utilities, Media and Communication in Belgium and Luxembourg. Before joining Oracle he gained multiple years of Sales experience at different IT companies.

Why Application Sales?

What Francis enjoys most about being an Application Sales Representative is the fact you are selling to the decision makers on C-level within a company. This job also gives you the opportunity to see how companies do business and organise themselves and what is going on in the world. You continuously meet very interesting people who have to solve challenging problems and make sure their companies remain successful and achieve the goals they have defined. As an Application Sales Representative you are able to contribute to the success of these companies.

Specialist

Compared to other Sales jobs Francis had in the past, the difference at Oracle is the amount of focus in the job. At Oracle you are responsible for selling a specific set of products within a specific sector. Francis is very positive about this approach. Oracle’s First Ever GAA Team Wins Dublin GAA Inter-Firms Championship

Oracle’s first ever GAA Team recently beat off serious competition to win the Dublin GAA Inter-Firms Championship recently. The unusual GAA Team consisted of non-irish players who had previously no experience in playing Ireland’s indigenous sport.

The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) is an Irish amateur sporting and cultural organisation, focused mainly on promoting Gaelic games such as hurling, gaelic football and camogie.

Despite the fact that the #Oracleteam were newcomers to the game, having only been set up in the past few months, the team saw off the competition from other well-seasoned firms such as ESB, Deloitte, Media Gaels and Citi Group.

The team which was founded by Stephen Twomey, Colm Bermingham and Tony Dunne from the Business Development Group in Oracle Direct started off with 4 people...
