Why did you join the Oracle Solution Engineering team?
I wanted to be a part of a team that is full of people who like to play around with the latest technologies; a team who is solving real world business problems by bringing new innovations into the mainstream. I also liked the idea of being part of a new wave of technology that has the potential to literally change everything about how the world works.
What is great about working in Oracle Solution Engineering?
I’m someone who likes technology but who also doesn’t want to be limited to just having a technical career. There’s a side of me that also wants to excel at sales and everything that involves. In an ideal world, I want to be able to balance my technical ability with great communication skills. In the Oracle SE Interactive Hub, I’m being empowered and trained to become an expert at both.
We have intense boot camp sessions which I’m loving. I’ve learned how to understand customer needs by doing a thorough discovery process and how to give a demo that relates to what they’re looking for. I can now translate my technical knowledge into something that the customer is genuinely interested in. That cross-over of skills is invaluable. It’s also why we’re called Solution Engineers.
I feel like what I do makes a real impact. It’s all down to me and my team whether a business proceeds with a solution and whether they will actually invest in the technology they need to evolve.
Describe a day in the life of a Solution Engineer in the Oracle Solution Engineering Team. Do you enjoy it? Why?
I start my day by catching up on the latest tech news and customer success stories. I also fit in some hands-on practice with the Oracle Platform as a Service (PaaS) products. We’re encouraged to become an expert on at least one of it. Based on my experience and interest in UI design, I’ve taken the initiative to explore more on Content and Experience Cloud and Visual Builder.
I don’t feel pressured or worried about taking time to myself to pursue my interests. In here we support each other to be the best we can be, and part of that means being able to indulge your curiosity and pursue your passion. That’s why I love working here—everyone’s journey is important. There’s such positive vibes.
