Reinventing your skillset can open a new world of opportunities – especially for women pivoting to a career in tech. That’s why the Oracle Women’s Leadership team in Spain created Reinventa-Tech, an innovative training program that lays foundations for employability and aims to reduce the unemployment rate among women.

We’ve joined forces with some of our closest partners in Spain to provide valuable training and work placements, giving women on the program experience working with exciting companies such as Abast, Accenture, Arin, CGI, Extendit, Grupo Tragsa, Quistor, TCS, and NTT Data.

Applications are open until mid-December for our 2022/2023 program, with places for 45 unemployed women who have a passion for tech. We spoke with some of our Reinventa-Tech alumni to find out how the program supported their transition to a career in technology. Read on to hear how Natalie and Lausa reshaped their futures.

From teaching to Java

Before joining Reinventa-Tech, Natalie Torres had a professional background in medical education, teaching, and nursing. She had moved to Spain and was teaching English when one of her students, an Oracle employee, told her about the program.

“She saw my potential in the tech sector and recognized that I was open to a change,” she shares. “I have always been interested in programming and data analysis, so I immediately loved the idea and was very excited by the opportunity.”

Reinventa-Tech opens the door to a career in tech for unemployed women in Spain who are ready to reinvent themselves, offering training and  development to help them learn technical skills that are in demand across industries.

Natalie began training for her Java certification – and soon after she was able to start a new job. “I gained the qualifications, professional background, and technical knowledge I needed to develop my skills as QA Analyst. Now I’m on track to become a Software Engineer in Test!”

“My experience in Reinventa-Tech was wonderful,” Natalie adds. “I met new friends and colleagues, I challenged myself, and I crushed new goals. I couldn't have completed it without the support of the program.”

Support that counts

Laura Alonso
Laura Alonso

Laura Alonso was already looking for a chance to work in the IT world. She first reached out to Oracle to find out if we had any openings related to natural language programming.

“I had always worked in a linguistics-related field,” she explains. She didn’t match any open roles at the time – but she was encouraged to apply for our new Reinventa-Tech program. This initiative had just launched, giving her an unexpected opportunity to reskill.

“It was not an easy journey, and it required a lot of effort, but I could count on support at any time,” Laura shares. Oracle volunteers followed up on training milestones, shared their experiences, and encouraged her to reach the next steps, offering mentorship and support throughout the training program.

“The training I received through Reinventa-Tech allowed me to gain some highly in demand skills,” Laura enthuses. “Now I have a permanent position in a good company, a job that I love, and a future in a blooming industry.”
