The Oracle SSI Manila team is hiring Principal Consultants (Supply Chain Management) in the Philippines. Read our interview below with Renee, who used to be a Contractual Consultant in Singapore, and find out why she has decided to come back home to the Philippines.
Renee is one of our Senior Principal Consultants, and just like her you can have a great and stable employment at Oracle SSI Manila.
Why did you join the Oracle SSI Manila team?
I joined Oracle SSI Manila because being part of Oracle’s roster of talent is a good opportunity. Having worked as an Oracle consultant for more than 10 years with different Oracle Consulting partners, and being part of the company whose solutions I’ve been implementing, has equipped me in being a better and more skilled ERP consultant. Direct access to new Oracle products, technologies, materials, and initiatives is also a big plus, as it enriches my skills and technology adaptability.
Prior to joining Oracle SSI Manila, I worked as a contractual resource in Singapore. Being a contractual resource is not as stable as being an internal employee; career growth is limited when you’re contracted for only one project. Your knowledge and expertise is as good as what you bring in and learn within the confines of the client’s project scope. Being a contractual resource, your client will not invest in your career growth or advancement. In my case, clients would maximize my time with project deliverables or support tasks, where there’s less room for new learning or opportunities for advancement.
How’s it like to work in the Oracle SSI Manila team? How is a day in the life of a Senior Principal Consultant in your team?
Oracle SSI Manila, being a new team, is a vibrant pool of talent. There’s the excitement and drive to learn and apply new knowledge in client engagements, especially on Cloud adoption. My initial months in the team were all about training and learning, as I was new to Cloud solutions. They pointed me to the right knowledge sources and gave me opportunities to upskill and apply the knowledge by putting me in expertise enrichment initiatives.
There is a right balance of work and personal time, as Management is lenient on how you spend your work hours. My daily commute to the office is quite long with the Manila traffic, so sometimes Management allows me to work from home to complete tasks with mobile tools, which makes work efficient.
Why do you enjoy working in Oracle SSI Manila? What inspires you in your role?
I enjoy working in Oracle SSI Manila because it’s a new team with a lot of room for growth, composed of a varied mix of talent. Being in a senior role, it inspires me to be able to mentor junior consultants and impart to them my consulting experience and expertise, which I’ve gained over the years (something you don’t learn from reading and watching instructional videos). Also, being in a global company with a focus on APAC clients, I enjoy working and dealing with counterparts from different parts of the region. Having experience in working with global clients has extended my reach to belong in a global community of talent, with whom I can collaborate and learn from. I like that Oracle promotes work-life balance by having non-work-related initiatives focused on self-development, community involvement, and health awareness.
What are the career opportunities available in your team?
Finance, Supply Chain, and HCM implementation/consulting roles at different levels are open to be filled. Career growth and potential to become a Senior Consultant, Solution Architect, or Practice Lead/Manager are part of the career succession that one can have within Oracle SSI Manila.
Why should people join Oracle SSI Manila?
If one is looking for growth, is hungry for knowledge and open to change, and wants to be part of a global company that continuously innovates, I feel you should seize the opportunity.
