Every day’s a school day on the North America Technology Sales team

Thi joined Oracle six years ago and hasn’t looked back since. A Vietnam native, she moved to the US to attend Business School at the University of Texas at Austin. From here, she was scouted by an Oracle recruiter who thought she would be perfect for a role with our North America Technology Sales team. And guess what? She was.

“After talking to the recruiter I went straight to the Oracle website and I saw all these exciting technologies like database, middleware, and cloud,” she recalls. “I was immediately hooked. I remember thinking it sounded like a very challenging but rewarding career. So I joined Oracle’s Class Of program, and from there graduated into Technology Sales which I still love to this day.”

One of the many things Thi likes about being in Solution Engineering is the diversity it offers. “During my time here, I’ve had the chance to work on so many different types of accounts, from public sector organizations to multinational corporations. It keeps things interesting,” she explains. “You’re working with lots of different people with very different backgrounds.”

Now a Senior Enterprise Architect in the Solution Engineering organization, Thi serves Small and Medium-sized Businesses (SMB) for our North American organization. “I’m currently supporting a team of six Sales Representatives focusing on the Canadian market. We help customers understand what they can achieve with Oracle technology and all the ways it can really benefit their business.”

Something funny that Thi notes is that while Oracle was technically her first professional job after college, she feels like her education has never stopped. “Every day is a school day here! I feel like I’m learning new things all the time,” she reveals. “That’s why I count myself lucky to work for such an agile, future-focused company. We’re always finding new ways to help customers and adapt very quickly to change, in both minor and major ways. That’s great for me because it means I’m always learning how to support new technologies and teams. That’s definitely been a big factor in my development.”

But Thi’s growth hasn’t just been professional. She often finds herself marvelling at how much her soft skills have developed too. “My career journey at Oracle has helped me to grow in so many ways. My personal development is very obvious to me, even in terms of how I interact with people. It’s one thing to grow your knowledge but it’s quite another to be able to use it to help others—and that’s what Oracle has helped me to excel at.”

As if that’s not enough of an endorsement, Thi finishes by saying, “There’s an incredible amount of opportunity on this team. If you want to grow, you will always find people here who are willing to help you.”
