Oracle is a dream company for many. People, who are associated with Oracle or have friends working in Oracle or have seen Oracle’s way of functioning, know what it means to be part of Oracle. It is intriguing to know what makes Oracle so different and alluring for many to be associated with it?
A saying goes that any organisation’s strength is its people. So, it all begins with hiring the right people for the right jobs. As an outsider, one may not know how each and every oraclite is hand picked and chosen for the right job. We have highly stringent recruiting methods.
This is how we recruit to ensure we get the brightest and sharpest minds here at Oracle:
Firstly, one of our qualified Recruiters has a discussion with the Business Managers to understand not just the role but also the career of the resource to be hired. From there the Recruiter draws an outline of the picture, which is just in the skeleton form. The main picture, which is the resource will be filled and hence the search. The Recruiter uses various modes of hiring. Once the job is well marketed and CV’s start coming in, then the actual challenge arises in the minds of the Recruiter as to whom do I choose from the number of resumes in the inbox? That’s when the recruiter filters the profiles by various parameters. We at Oracle don’t entertain any profiles/resumes that are written poorly, spelling mistakes, grammatical errors or without proper contact details (see this recent blog post ) .
So, what is it in a Candidate that grabs the attention of the Recruiter to begin with? A well-written CV is the face of a potential hire. The resume has to be brief, to the point and should also have all the relevant details. Also, the CV should highlight some of the accomplishments the potential hire has had in his/her experience. This is the best part, as we all know in a job, all of us are expected to do our job 100%. We at Oracle, pick people who not only perform their roles but somebody who excels at that and goes on to add value to the role. Therefore its very important to include all your accomplishments. The Recruiter picks the outstanding CV’s in a jiffy, as that’s what we need.
As our recruiting methods are very stringent, this shows to prove how we stand apart even in the business. That surely helps us carve niche for ourselves in developing the technologies that are for tomorrow’s world.
Getting a call for the interview is the first step. Then cracking the interview in the technical rounds and collecting the offer subsequently is going to be a cakewalk as you indeed are the chosen one.
As for fresh graduates who need to be picked out of college, they need to have excellent academic background in additional to co-curricular activities. They also should have one or two additional skills outside their domain. We filter them first by online tests. Then, as graduates can’t be quizzed for on the job performance, it’s the soft skills that goes a long way in selecting a graduate from the lot in addition to their their academic excellence and project work. Good articulation skills, communication skills, attitude to learn new things, zeal to make it big, positivity, all this go a long way in their favour. Demonstrate this in the interview and you have a fair chance to be part of your dream company – Oracle.
