Willem-Jan Scholten, Sales VP of the Hardware line of Business in the Benelux region, talks to us about how he is leading the change and managing the Hardware sales organisation in Oracle.
Why did Oracle decide to buy a hardware product? Where do you think is the added value for Oracle client's?
The Hardware and Software combination just makes perfect sense. The idea of offering Hardware and Software engineered to work together offers so much more value than buying Hardware and software separately.
Software, hardware engineered to work together?
Exactly, the challenge facing most clients is that the cost of their datacenters is increasing annually, which is particularly challenging in times when IT budgets are flat. So the problem most CIO's face are higher expenses for their data center at a time when they are supposed to be providing more service to the business. This equation just doesn't work so we are at a time when organisations need a different approach in order for their CIO's to provide the right environment for the business at a cost that
companies can absorb.
I believe Oracle can considerably cut the cost out of the data center with optimisation and the way to do it is optimising the whole stack of products. To make sure that software is optimised in the Hardware Platform that can be delivered as a system to our customers. Oracle has very good examples of this with the Exadata and the new launched Exalogic products.
How do you see the market reaction towards this new portfolio?
We have seen important new wins in EMEA during the quarter across many industries and throughout our portfolio, including fast adoption of Oracle Exadata.
What is the news in the Benelux for Oracle Hardware Sales?
After the very recent integration at local level in the Benelux we are now one Oracle Hardware Sales team. We are looking to expand our team of sales people to take this new portfolio to the market place and provide a 'solution' to our existing clients and new clients along the way.
