GVD Germany: Pumpkins for Potsdam Children

Thousands of Oracle employees take part annually in the Global Volunteer Days by donating their time and talent to community service projects all around the world. We’re starting a new series of articles by Robert Harris about the various contributions #Oraclevolunteers have made to the society in 2013.

GVD Germany: Pumpkins for Potsdam Children

In October volunteers from Oracle Germany’s Potsdam office hosted a Fall Festival for the Red Cross Children’s Home Kinderheim am Stern. Oracle Potsdam has a long standing relationship with this orphanage, just as Oracle Munich has similar ties to local children’s homes.

The 15 volunteers spent many hours playing with the children and also livened up the garden with a dozen craftily carved pumpkin heads. Oracle and the children also prepared the garden for the spring, planting seedlings and cleaning weeds.

The day was also marked by a feast of pumpkin soup and waffles.

One volunteer donated his Slagline, to provide endless fun for the kids.
