Curiosity paves the way for an Oracle sales career abroad

Henry Kröger, Oracle Digital Financial Services Account Manager for the United Kingdom, a wearer of hats, solver of puzzles, and suit enthusiast with a background in philosophy and economics, is definitely not your average sales professional. While this profile may have led him down a very different professional path, his defining personal features are responsible, in more ways than one, for his successful career in the world of IT sales away from his native Germany.

“I’m incredibly curious by nature and I like to see and understand how things work,” Henry says about his most important personal trait. “That, of course, leads to wanting to have an understanding of what customers are doing, in order to give them a good and suitable offering,” he adds. This is especially useful to Oracle in a market teeming with competing cloud offerings, where being in sync with a customer’s business goals and efforts makes the difference in a sale.

Naturally, when Henry arrived at Oracle’s Dublin hub in Ireland, his curiosity drove his discovery of the Emerald Isle’s wonders. “Dublin is a very vibrant, youthful place, but Ireland truly becomes Ireland when you leave the city,” Henry refers to Ireland’s vast, green countryside. As for its people, Henry recognizes “Irish friendliness” as the characteristic he likes most about the country. “You can always chat with people; the Irish are very welcoming,” he adds.

As for working at Oracle’s Dublin hub, the company’s culture has allowed Henry to exploit his talent and succeed. “Oracle serves more towards the independent type; I get the freedom I need to do my work,” he explains. As well, working with a culturally diverse team has kept Henry out of his comfort zone, and constantly stimulates his aforementioned curiosity, which keeps him motivated in such a dynamic work environment.
