Standing desks are great for keeping the high-level energy here!
One of the first things you’ll notice when you step into the Oracle Direct Dublin office is the bursting of activity. The bright and airy environment perfectly matches our company’s exciting culture. Despite the employee hustle and bustle, the office manages to stay reasonably quiet.
The Dublin office boasts several CollabPods for impromptu 2-6 person meetings, as well as an informal Training/Presentation/VideoCon space to simplify collaboration. Oracle Direct has opted for bold and modern design elements with colorful splashes to help inspire employee creativity and innovation.
Customization and flexibility remains the cornerstone for the Oracle Direct Dublin office. Each work space is equipped with 100% automatic height adjustable seating as well as double monitor arms for specific roles. So whether our employees prefer to work while standing or sitting, the choice is theirs, all thanks to the touch of a button which raises/lowers the desk.
Need to step outside to get some fresh air? The Dublin office offers a great walking trail for its employees. We currently have a Walking Meeting Challenge to help make meetings healthier and more productive.

We invited John McGann, EMEA Sales Consulting, Strategy and
Programs Director to give us more details about the new team that is
being built in Dublin and Bucharest.
"Hi, my name is John McGann and I am part of the Oracle Direct management team, based in Dublin. These are very exciting times in Oracle: as part of our focus on being Number 1 in Cloud, we are starting up a whole new team within the Sales Consulting organization to support the Technology Cloud Platform– specifically our Infrastructure and Platform Services (PaaS and IaaS).
Oracle has a long history of excellence and leadership in Database , Middleware and Development tools, and making these available to existing and new customers via our Public Cloud is a logical next step to offer more choice and flexibility in how our products can be consumed. This change also has implications for how we are organized and operate as a sales team: we need a dedicated group of Sales Consulting or ‘Presales’ professionals who will be 100% dedicated to growing our Tech Cloud business. This team will focus on supporting customers who may be taking a trial of our Cloud Services, evaluating an initial purchase, or helping them expand their utilization of our services as we continue to release new offerings...[Read More]

We have invited Serban to answer these questions and to give us an overview of one of the biggest technical teams in Oracle Romania. He’s been with Oracle for 7 years leading the local PeopleSoft Financials & Supply Chain Support team. Back in 2013 Serban started building a new support team in Romania – Fusion HCM. His current focus is building a strong support team for Fusion HCM, latest solution for Business HR Professionals from Oracle. The solution is offered both on Premise (customer site installation) but more important as a Cloud offering – SaaS.
So, why should a technical person choose Software Support over other technical areas?
“I think it is mainly because of the high level of technical skills required to provide the best technical solutions to our customers. Oracle Software Support covers complex solutions going from Database or Middleware to a vast area of business applications (basically covering any needs that a large enterprise may have). Working with such software requires very strong skills both technical and functional for the different areas, going from Finance, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Sales to other very specific business processes...[Read More]

I work together with the Oracle Field Account Managers and our Field Sales Management in the Netherlands where I am often the main point of contact for customers. This means that I deal with their requests and I manage their various issues, provide solutions and suggestions based on the Oracle Core Technology portfolio. I work on interesting projects with end-customers, making financial proposals and building business cases. It is a very interesting sales environment and for the last two years I improved my skills substantially. This month I will finish my Inside Sales career in Malaga to move to a position within Field Sales in the Netherlands. Here is what one of the Oracle Direct employees said about Brian: “He is an excellent Manager, the best I have worked for. He has the energy, passion and a “can do” attitude which is contagious. Brian helped me be the best I could be and always had a positive approach and was always available to me and the team. Brian is creative and his management style brings out the best in people and makes work fun.”Brian has been with Oracle just over 3 years. He was promoted to this role in January having previously been an Inside Sales Rep selling in the UK Financial Services. We asked him to give us an insight into his role as a Manager and he said: “The most rewarding aspect of my role is watching people join the team just out of college and grow into IT sales people. I enjoy the competitive nature of the job, as a sales representative the competition to deliver “the best quarter” is ferocious and now as a manager I can see that that attitude continues amongst the managers and other lines of business...[Read More]

Being at Oracle allows me to sell a large range of HCM Products, covering aspects from Talent Management (how to develop and train your employees), the Recruitment process (how to detect new Talents for your organization, through normal methods or even thanks to the advantages of the Social networks), to Compensations & Benefits. I am the main point of contact for some of the French markets biggest companies which means that I deal with their requests and I manage their various issues, always providing solutions and suggestions based on our portfolio. There is a wide range of products that companies can select from to grow their business and improve the performance. What I truly like about my job at Oracle is that it has given me an international mindset. Being part of this fast and growing company makes you interact with people from all over the world and deal with a variety of responsibilities. “Honesty, family support, self-belief, learning to switch off – these are just a few of the non-negotiables for getting on in life. So say a group of Ireland’s most successful women, whose achievements are being recognised at a WXN network award ceremony next week.”
Maria is among the women who were interviewed by the Irish Times about their priorities in life and how they manage to balance work and private activities.
“Never give up a special family or friend’s occasion for a meeting that happens once a month. In life what you will regret is not attending events such as a milestone family birthday, a special anniversary or a son’s rugby match. If you have a good team, the works gets done. The more you balance life the more one aspect of it helps another. At work, my boss and I go through the family events of our core team and work our travel commitments around these...[Read More]

Oracle is a place that brings together talented people from various countries and with a diversity of backgrounds. We often invite our employees to speak about their life at Oracle as we think It is important to share an insight into what working for our company looks like.
This time we asked Stanislav to speak about his experience at Oracle. He is Technology Sales Manager at Oracle Russia. He joined the company in July 2011 as a Sales Representative for the Financial sector and had previously worked for another American IT company. He was promoted to a Management position in 2013.
“I have been in this Industry for 15 years and I am now Technology Sales Manager, covering Database, BI and Fusion Middleware products. What I’ve learned in my role is that respect is one of the most important values a good professional should have. By respecting and embracing everyone’s opinions, we create a very good work environment that encourages innovation and change. It eventually leads to a stronger team where people listen to each other and value each other’s opinion. On the other hand, It is mandatory to have good knowledge about the area you work in and to continously seek to improve your expertise. Last but not least, working as a team is a top priority and It is something that I’ve learned at Oracle. There’s little you can achieve by yourself comparing to what you can do when you’re part of a team.”Stanislav shared the top three words that best describe his team and those were: professional, dynamic and smart...[Read More]

Joana is part of the Core Technology Sales French Team and she’s an asset to the EMEA group! She is always helping and taking time to answer her peers’ questions. With a very curious personality, she is aware of the Oracle rules regarding approvals, territories, communication plan, HR etc and she’s always willing to share her knowledge. Her advice is always appreciated and wise and she’s not just helping her team, but every single person who’s coming to her. Her leadership and communication skills are very strong and also highly appreciated by her colleagues.
It was a challenge to select just a few thoughts out of the huge number of answers we got from Joana's
colleagues. However, here's what they say about her:
“Joana is just the most helpful person I know in the office. If I have a question, especially about the process, she is the first person I will go to ask for help. Actually, all my colleagues advised me to do so because they do the exact same! Joana always finds a way to dedicate time to others, and with a smile on top of that!...[Read More]

We congratulate Nico for introducing a new way to talk to the customers! He is not only involving Sales Consulting to his customer meetings, but he also surprises the clients. The evidence is his idea of sending a box with engraved Oracle URL apples. The topic was green IT and he positioned products which are related to.
Nico always has great and creative ideas for Demand Generation and he is highly motivated to work hard! He continuously spreads ideas, whether it is about contacting new clients or creating a concept of making our customers understand the company Oracle and its structure better. He is also a great support to the team and has valuable input...[Read More]

Oracle is organised for success
Today we are discussing working at Oracle with Francis, based in Belgium, and working as an Applications Sales Representative for CRM, ERP and EPM. Francis joined Oracle in 2012 as a Business Development Manager. As of June this year he moved to an Application Sales Representative role focusing on Public Sector, Utilities, Media and Communication in Belgium and Luxembourg. Before joining Oracle he gained multiple years of Sales experience at different IT companies.
Why Application Sales?
What Francis enjoys most about being an Application Sales Representative is the fact you are selling to the decision makers on C-level within a company. This job also gives you the opportunity to see how companies do business and organise themselves and what is going on in the world. You continuously meet very interesting people who have to solve challenging problems and make sure their companies remain successful and achieve the goals they have defined. As an Application Sales Representative you are able to contribute to the success of these companies.
Compared to other Sales jobs Francis had in the past, the difference at Oracle is the amount of focus in the job. At Oracle you are responsible for selling a specific set of products within a specific sector. Francis is very positive about this approach. He can take a deep dive into the challenges his customers are facing in their business processes...[Read More]
