How did you transition your career from an audit firm to a cloud company?
Like any CPA who comes from a traditional audit firm, it was a bold career move for me to shift to a cloud company. Being an ERP Technical Support Engineer is a perfect fit for me, as it allows me to be involved with the customer’s problems and to provide creative and efficient solutions. It’s not entirely a different thing for me—it’s actually a combination of accounting and technology. I’ve landed a job that will further ensure a successful career, while still being able to utilize and improve the core skills I’ve gained in the past.
How is a day in the life of an ERP Technical Support Engineer?
At any given point, working as an ERP Technical Support Engineer is very demanding, yet fulfilling. It’s demanding in the sense that it requires you to deal with customers’ frustrations, while focusing on complex concerns and ensuring that everything is resolved at the end of the day. Outstanding communication is essential to the role—knowing myself as a reserved person, this role has allowed me to learn from people with different kinds of expertise, giving me more confidence to drive conversations.
What inspires you in your role?
Working with Oracle NetSuite has been fun because of its open culture. My job allows me to interact freely with people; I get to feel that I’m part of a family that helps each other. This makes me feel like I’m not alone and any challenges we encounter can be easily addressed. Not only does my role enable me to help customers with their operations, but also to help my colleagues with their own cases. My main job allows me to interact with customers and help them in their daily operations. I often receive cases and concerns regarding features I know well, so I provide insights and input that allows them to operate effectively and efficiently. It’s very inspiring and fulfilling when you resolve customers’ concerns and receive good feedback from them, it makes you feel appreciated.
