Why did you join the Public Section CP team?
I knew I wanted to join Oracle after I read about the direction the company was taking on its journey to Cloud. I’ve been working with Public Sector clients for the past 20 years, so one thing that’s incredibly important to me is making a difference. There's no better place to be right now than Oracle if you want to have a real impact on people's lives. Oracle is making huge gains in groundbreaking areas like Cloud, machine learning, and AI. You just wouldn’t believe the scale of the efficiencies that this kind of innovation is bringing to our customers everyday. It’s part of what makes my job so exciting and rewarding.
What is it like to work in the Oracle Public Section CP team? How is a day in the life of a Cloud Platform Sales Representative on your team?
My team works in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. I spend my time working on a range of different exciting projects. I can be working on multiple things per day, from planning an internal sales training event on the benefits of Autonomous, to meeting a client and growing a deep understanding of their journey to Cloud. I find engaging with customers really satisfying. Building trust and helping them to solve their problems is a core part of my role and it really motivates me. Then, of course, there’s the time I spend in the office. This is when I get up to speed on strategy and learn about the innovative things that Oracle is planning for the future.
Why do you enjoy working in Oracle? What inspires you in your role?
My team and our clients inspire me. If I can make a difference, save a little tax payers money, and help the government to provide a better service to its citizens, then I’m winning! Oracle is so future-focused and forward-thinking. It’s thrilling to be part of a company who really see the big picture and are always planning for a better tomorrow. It motivates me to know that I’m helping to build that future.
Tell us more about the meaningful work that you do in Oracle that is changing lives.
I think that, on a basic level, working with people changes lives. How we interact with people on a daily basis can have a huge impact on the happiness of the people around us. So, it’s great that in the office we have such a positive culture of kindness and inclusion. This definitely translates to our relationships with clients. When you take the time to actually understand someone and make an effort to help make their day better- everybody wins.
On a more public scale, working with the government to help improve citizen experience is something that has, and always will, hold meaning for me. Having the unique opportunity to help government departments that are struggling with certain aspects of delivering their service- that’s the kind of meaningful work where you can go home at the end of the day knowing that you’ve really done some good. That feeling is priceless.
Tell us more about the culture and work environment in Oracle.
Life at Oracle is fun! One good indicator of that is how much of my day I spend smiling and laughing. I think that when people are working in a role that they find fulfilling, it shows. One thing I especially like is how everyone always has time for you at Oracle. There’s usually always some kind of fun social activity to get involved in. It’s great having the opportunity to meet new people that you have something in common with.
What are the career opportunities available in your team?
I’m currently looking for strategic sales people. I’m seeking self-motivated, high-performing team-players who have the drive to bring together the suite of different technologies available in Oracle to deliver successful business outcomes for our clients.
As a Cloud Platform Sales Representative, you will have the exciting opportunity to lead customer engagements. You’ll work with local, regional and global experts to solution and deliver tangible business outcomes within the Public Sector space. You’ll work directly with line of business and C-suite leaders, qualifying opportunities and leading innovation workshops.
The ideal candidate will have experience selling and driving digital innovation initiatives for commercial customers. So if you have a proven track record of leading customer engagement to meet business objectives, we want to hear from you.
Other key skills include excellent communication skills, a customer-centric, collaborative approach, strong data and metrics bias and a keen understanding of cloud solutions. Most importantly, I’m looking for someone who is passionate about helping customers to transform using cloud technologies.

What career advice can you share with our readers?
Find a place to work where you can be your authentic self. Somewhere you can thrive and grow. For me- that place is Oracle. If you can really be yourself at work then you will be empowered to seize opportunities and reach your full potential. If you work hard, the opportunities will always present themselves. Also, find something that you feel passionate about, and if you can’t pursue that in your daily job, then pursue it outside of work. Lead a balanced life!
