T2: Sun, Fujitsu, Sparc, Solaris

Sun doubles processing power of UltraSparc T2 Plus servers: "Sales of systems based on the multithreading UltraSparc chips 'have seen dramatic growth.' [Jean Bozman, analyst at IDC] also said that she is seeing evidence of Sun gaining new customers via the multithreading technology.' " -- Computerworld

Cool. Nice to see Solaris running a hot new platform driving growth. Sun press release here. Sun technical blogs here.

Comments:

/me hopes to God that SPARC keeps this up !
Sun, \*please\* keep pushing ahead into 45nm with SPARC !
With the downfall of AMD, if SPARC loses then all has been lost forever !

Everyone will have a Intel box - A really bad thing !

Hi Jim, it's been awhile eh?

Well we bought a boat load of T5220s and T5120s to replace all of our
ancient E220s and E420s, just wish we could pick up a couple of the new
T5440s.

Love the new boxes, all loaded up running ZFS, Zones and Sun Cluster.

We didn't do a one to one swap, we consolidated a lot to Zones running on these new servers. Are users and developers have been extremely happy!
