More OpenSolaris and GPL

Interesting (though somewhat inaccurate in spots) article in BusinessWeek -- Sun Mulls Deeper Open-Source Dive. What's interesting about it is that no one in the article is actually saying we are "mulling a deeper open source drive" or anything of the sort. Should be an interesting time at JavaOne, though, with all the communities getting together at CommunityOne. I'll be there. And I'm sure there will be a lot of these sorts of articles between now and then, too. But I wonder ... do serious developers and customers and partners pay attention to stuff like this? I'm mixed. Some people tell me the media speculation is garbage and they ignore it, but others get quite animated about it. Who knows. I've never really seen it quantified, so I suppose it will remain a mystery.
Comments:

I just found your blog because of your post almost a year ago, where you corrected Stuart Cohen for his flat-out lie that all modifications to CDDL-licensed code must go back to Sun. I want to note that Businessweek is now repeating this lie as though it's a fact and continues to link to that original column as the source. They also do this in the current article you just linked to (which links to this article which links to Cohen's nonsense). I think someone at Sun PR needs to forcefully tell Businessweek that they're repeating lies made by a Sun competitor and that they need to make corrections to the two subsequent articles and the original Cohen column.

Thanks, Ajay. You are correct. I noticed the link in the article, of course, but I'm so tired of the issue, and I've tried to correct these types of things so much, that I just figured it was useless. There are a group of people who feel a certain way about this issue, and there is no changing their minds. But, you've inspired me so I think I'll update my post with a link to the previous thread. Thanks!

Oh, and I'll tell the marketing guys, too. :) They may be able to help as you suggest.
