Go East, Young Man!

So, New York City and Washington are the new leaders in IT job creation, taking over from Silicon Valley and Boston, according to an article by John Pallatto in eWeek. Great. I moved from the east coast for the opportunity of Silicon Valley just six months before it all crashed. Oh, well. At least the weather is nicer here. The trends driving the migration back east are pretty obvious -- Washington leads with government-related defense and security positions, and New York City is attracting the financial services guys. Another bright spot cited in the article is open source. Scot Melland, CEO of online job site Dice Inc., said in the article:

"I would make sure I had some open-source credentials if I were a young software-development professional."
