Department of Homepage Security

Derek Cicero gets the "Quote of the Day" in this thread: [ogb-discuss] OpenSolaris.org Editorial Committee -- "If the change is controversial then someone can take it to the appeals board, but let's start with a simple, straightforward solution based on how we've been operating - with an extra check - before turning this into the Dept of Homepage Security." Golden.

Basically, the OGB voted to create an editorial committee to look after the content on the website after and then they removing the editorial function from the previously a proposed Website Community Group. See [ogb-discuss] Meeting Minutes :: 12th December 2007. I wonder who will write the content now? It got a little more complex than that, but I can't possibly explain it all. Anyway, Derek's right and the OGB is wrong. I get that Sun has over played its hand in some areas, but the community has to realize that their reaction is sometimes an over-reaction and now the OGB is over-reacting as well. We don't need a "Dept of Homepage Security." But it's a great quote, though.
Comments:

You got the events in the wrong order - the OGB created the website committee in our November 14 meeting (see item 4 of the minutes at
http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/ogb-discuss/2007-November/003449.html ) - we didn't strip the power from the community, just decided not to undo our previous decision when Alan Burlison asked us to strip the power from the committee and give it to his proposed ocmmunity.

Yes, I realize that I got the order wrong. Thanks for the correction. Doesn't matter, much, though. The OGB is 100% wrong on this issue. Alan's proposal would have been the best solution to solve the issue.
