Installing JDeveloper Extensions Locally

Shay Shmeltzer
Director of Product Management - Oracle

Due to infrastructure changes in OTN's download server infrastructure you might encounter issues downloading and installing JDeveloper extensions using the Check for Updates mechanism.
The problem results in empty files being downloaded and of course in non-functioning extensions.
We are working to resolve this issue, but until a patch is available here is a simple workaround that you can use to download and install extensions.

The list of extensions is accessible in these URLs:

To install an extension follow these simple steps:
  • Locate the extension that you are after in the above mentioned URLs
  • Download the extension to your machine (the extension will be packaged as a zip file - don't unzip the extension).
  • In JDeveloper use the help->check for updates and instead of choosing from the existing update centers choose the "Install From Local File" option, and point to the zip file you have downloaded.
  • Restart JDeveloper to complete the extension installation.

Important notes
Many of the extensions will have multiple versions in the above URLs.
It is important to choose the version that matches your specific JDeveloper version.
To verify your current JDeveloper version use the help->about option.

Some extensions might depend on other extensions being installed - to check this look at the requirements section of the extension description.

How to check if the extension is successfully installed or not. In other words I would like to check the list of all extensions are installed in my Jdeveloper. Is it possible to see this list?

You can see which extensions are installed in the help->about->extensions menu.

Hello and thank you for those tips!
I cannot find any 12c version in the URLs you have shared. Is there any other URL we can refer to?
    Thank you in advance.
