Prepare Your Nomination for the Java Community Process Executive Committee

Harold Ogle
Program Manager

The Java Community Process (JCP) Executive Committee (EC) is the group that guides the evolution of Java technology in the JCP. Every year, the many individuals and organizations that are the Members of the JCP vote to determine which Members will serve on the Executive Committee through the annual JCP Executive Committee Elections process. The first part of that process is determining which Members are going to run in the elections!

The JCP will accept nominations for this year's Executive Committee election during the open nominations period: 7 September - 4 October 2021.
The following seats are open for nomination this year:
- 5 Ratified Seats
- 2 Elected Seats
- 1 Associate Seat

When a JCP Member is interested in nominating to be a candidate in the EC Election, the Primary Contact of that JCP Member is the person who will initiate that process. The Primary Contact for each JCP Member will receive instructions and login credentials at the e-mail address we have on file for them on 7 September.
You can find out who your Primary Contact is by logging on to jcp.org, clicking "My Profile," and then "View Membership Info."

In the meantime, any JCP Member interested in nominating for an EC seat should prepare a biography for the two people who will serve as primary and alternate representatives of that JCP Member, a qualification statement, and a position paper.

Further information on each of these items, as well as the elections schedule and an archive of all EC elections' results, can be found on our EC Elections page:

Even if you do not want to serve on the Executive Committee or aren't sure yet whether you wish to serve, if you are the Primary Contact of a JCP Member you will receive voting information via e-mail when the JCP EC Elections begin in November.
