Nominations Open Now for 2 JCP EC seats!

As a reminder, the nominations for the EC Special Election are open until Monday at midnight pacific time.  There are only a few more days left for any JCP program member to nominate themselves for remaining seats--one the SE/EE EC and one on the ME EC.

The following information is required for self-nominations.

  • Contact information (name, email, phone #)
  • Which EC's open seat is desired
  • Qualification statement of the JCP Member (no more than 3-4 paragraphs)
  • Biography of the person who will serve as the primary representative for the JCP Member on the EC
  • Photograph of the primary representative
  • JCP Member Position Statement (pdf format)

The Primary Contacts for each JCP Member have been sent reminders and instructions on how to nominate themselves via e-mail.

Meet the candidates next Tuesday!  We are planning to host a call after the nominations close to give you a chance to hear from the candidates for the elected seats. The call is scheduled from 8:00-10:00 am pacific time on Tuesday 26 April 26. If you are interested in attending the call please send email to pmo at jcp dot org and we will send the call details to you.

Oracle also recently hosted a conference call to introduce the ratified candidates to Java developers and to members of the current ECs. If you'd like to hear what Bruno Souza and John Weir had to say, and to hear how they responded to questions from the audience, you can download an MP3 recording of the call here (you'll need a java.net login to access it.)

Voting for all 4 open seats--3 on the SE/EE EC and 1 on the ME EC also begins on Tuesday--don't forget to vote!  See the election page for more details.
