Project Blackbox comes to San Diego

Project Blackbox made its tour stop in San Diego today! I was able to attend the presentation and take a tour through the datacenter in a box. What a great concept to have a fully operational datacenter that can be brough up online quickly and can be put virtually anywhere you have a 30' by 15' space. Here's some exterior pictures I took, mostly to prove it made it to our parking lot today.

There are better interior pictures out there, so I wasn't planning to taking any but I took a couple because I thought it was cool to see a Sun SPOT being used. According to a flyer I picked up, there are approximately 12 Sun SPOT devices within the Blackbox container and this one is being used as a "3D accelerometer. Rigid body simulation: records movement of the Blackbox container in transit."

You should see the Blackbox if you haven't already. Check out the tour schedule and register here.

Oh yeah, and thanks to Jane Grafton for the giveaway. I now have my own Project Blackbox model to put on my desk!
