Besk book EVER.
My wife and I went to the midnight release at our nearest Borders bookstore Friday night.
We arrived at 9pm and later found out we were in the first 150-200 batch to get numbered wristbands. The bookstore had some activites planned for customers, calling it the Deathly Hallows Ball. There was Snape Bingo in one section of the store and a Spelling Bee in another, with of course everything in the Harry Potter theme. There was also a Snape Debate and a Costume Contest. The winners of the costume contest were a very convincing Professor MacGonagall and a young Quidditch-uniformed Harry Potter equipped with goggles and a #7 Potter cloak. The store also provided Borders glowsticks on lanyards and stickers that said "Snape is loyal", "Snape will betray", "Trust snape", and "Snape is a very bad man". All this helped the time pass and it was fun to be around people excited for the book as we were.
When it hit midnight, there was a countdown and everyone cheered. The store called out wristbands in groups of 50 to get in line. My wife and I each had our copies of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by 12:45am. I read the first 6 chapters before going to bed. All we did on Saturday was read, only stopping every so often for breaks and to eat. We thought about going through the night to read, but we decided to stop and get some sleep and rest our eyes. So we continued today and I just finished. I'm waiting for Amie to finish, so I decided to post an entry on this. And apparently my typing was distracting Amie so I had to move upstairs to our office to finish this post.
Its an excellent book. I think its the best book since the first and I thoroughly enjoyed it from cover to cover. Thank you J.K. Rowling for creating Harry Potter and his universe. What a great story, and it was always worth the wait for the books to come out, especially this one. But a part of me is sad that its over.
