From JavaBin (Nowray JUG):

  1. What was not included in Java EE 6 and why?
  2. What APIs are planned to be prunned form Java EE 6? EJB CMP, JAXR, JAX-RPC.
  3. Isn't Java EE 6 to bloated if everything is added? See pruning and web profile.
  4. Would like to see a focus on instant round trip when making changes. I thought this was actually implemented. Is this implemented in all of Java EE6 or is just in the tools or just some tools? Fast iterative development is provided by in GlassFish via smart IE plugins and preserving session across redeploys (a GlassFish feature). JRebel is a more generic (but for $) solution for multiple IDE's and frameworks

From CoJUG (Columbus, Ohio):

  1. (rephrased) If I develop on GlassFish Java EE 6, how the heck am I going to deploy on WebLogic at JEE5? Actual question was phrased in terms of backward migration of an application from Java EE 6 to Java EE 5. You can restrain yourself to Java EE 5 APIs and packaging using the 'verifier' tool. Otherwise wait for WebLogic to release a Java EE 6 version later in 2011. Note WLS already has preliminary support for JAX-RS 1.1, JSF 2.0 and JPA 2.0.
  2. What is the status of OpenMQ? http://mq.java.net/, some screencasts recently added to the YouTube GlassFish Channel

What's cool

  • Roger's Kindle!
  • Alexis' visa for Russia
