Paul Perrone is a regular fixture at JavaOne
, and this year's conference is no exception. Perrone, founder and CEO of Perrone Robotics, will give a session called "Automated Vehicle Testing with Java
." Perrone will talk about his company's Autonomous Vehicle Test System, developed for the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). The system, written entirely in Java, will be used to independently test the safety of crash-avoidance systems.
“Many of today’s vehicles already have ‘crash-imminent braking’ and other features,” says Perrone. “But up until now, the IIHS hasn’t really had a way to test how well these technologies work in real-world situations with cars traveling at highway speeds.”
