Capital Cities
Los Angeles indie electro unit Capital Cities first came together as the duo of composers/songwriters Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian. The two initially met on craigslist in 2008 and worked as jingle writers until they formed the band in 2010. They released an independent EP in 2011 that included the song "Safe and Sound," an upbeat mesh of programming and melody that went viral and gained the act significant internet exposure. Eventually, Merchant and Simonian were joined by bassist Manny Quintero, trumpeter Spencer Ludwig, guitarist Nick Merwin, and drummer Channing Holmes. The fully realized live version of Capital Cities has played international festivals. Their debut full-length album In a Tidal Wave of Mystery was released by Capitol Records / Lazy Hooks in June 2013.

Wednesday: Appreciation Night

AEROSMITH—Members Steven Tyler (vocals), Joe Perry (lead guitar), Brad Whitford (guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass), and Joey Kramer (drums)—are a living piece of American music history, having sold more than 150 million albums worldwide and been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are the recipients of countless awards including, four GRAMMYs, eight American Music Awards, six Billboard Music Awards, and 12 MTV Video Music Awards, among many other honors. Their latest honors include the 2013 ASCAP Founders Award and induction into the Songwriter Hall of Fame at the 44th annual ceremony in 2013.  Music from Another Dimension! (Columbia), the band's latest album, was released in late 2012. Proving that they can cross genre boundaries with ease, these rock legends have even taken home a Soul Train Award for Best Rap Single for their remix of Run DMC's "Walk This Way." With scores of multiplatinum albums, AEROSMITH continues to inspire generations to get their wings, get a grip, and just push play. It is no wonder why they are one of the most beloved bands of all time.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
Since its #2 Billboard Top 200 debut, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' independent debut album The Heist has reached Platinum, sold 20+ million singles, and earned the Seattle-based hip-hop duo four GRAMMY Awards including Best New Artist, Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Collaboration. The duo earned a standing ovation for the historic performance of their gay rights anthem "Same Love" at the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards in 2014. In addition to making Billboard history as the first duo to ever send their first two singles to #1 on the Hot 100 chart, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone and performed on Saturday Night Live and Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series. Their wildly popular music videos have racked up more than 1 billion plays on YouTube, as well as earning them three MTV Video Music Awards (Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Cinematography, and Best Video with a Social Message) and the YouTube Music Award for Breakthrough of the Year.

About Appreciation Night: Once you arrive on Treasure Island you'll see that it's been transformed. You'll be wowed by the 360-degree views of Bay Area skylines (with an even better view from the top of the Ferris wheel). Be sure to test your skill playing arcade games between acts, and most important of all, relax and enjoy yourself. Note: You will be on an island in the middle of San Francisco Bay. The music will be hot, but the weather may be cold and breezy. Dress accordingly.

Getting these great bands is Oracle's way of saying thank you for your continued support. Thank you, Java community!
