Enroll

Java Embedded leverages your experience with Java to open the world of the Internet of                                     Things by providing direct access to electronic sensors and mechanical devices.

This free course, designed for Java developers, is delivered over 5-weeks. Take the course                                       at your own pace - weekly we will add new lessons, quizzes and homework assignments.

You will work on a real-world application to:

  • Read input data from switches and drive LED's using the GPIO interface
  • Read temperature and barometric pressure from an I2C device
  • Read the device's current location using a GPS UART device
  • Store and manage data collected
  • Report data to a client through a variety of communication options
  • And more!

Comments:

I would like bump Bill's post as Adafruit is stating that shipment will take 5-10 days. I noticed that the equipment was "suggested" and that we can purchase from other vendors. Can anyone provide secondary packages to be immediately purchased for use during this course?

Due to a shortage of parts required for the Oracle Java Embedded MOOC, we have closed registration for the course starting March 31st.  However, we plan to run the course again once we are sure that people can order and get the hardware required. This date is still TBD, and currently we are putting people who register onto a waiting list.

If you have ALL of the equipment required for the course (from this list), please register to get on the waiting list, and send the e-mail used to register to java-mooc-support@beehiveonline.oracle.com to be added to the class starting March 31st.

The problem is that there isn't a vendor that has all of the parts - the GPS device is only sold through Adafruit.
