Article: Moving the Java Platform Forward

If you didn't get a chance to attend the Technical General Session at JavaOne last week, Oracle's Janice Heiss has penned an exceptionally detailed summary of the key topics and announcements.  In her words:
The JavaOne 2010 General Technical Session, held Tuesday afternoon, left little doubt that the Java platform is alive, kicking, and heading into new territory with plenty of energy and brain power.
The article goes on to cover key topics such as future trends for the Java SE platform including key areas of emphasis such as modularity, serviceability, performance, multi-language support and more. The article then goes on to discuss key areas of focus for the Java EE platform and concludes with a discussion around the future of embedded and mobile devices, including Oracle's focus on advancing the Java ME platform and bringing together Java and the Web.  Read more here!
Comments:

"Modularity. The platform is big and applications are constructed with little class paths full of jar files that are difficult to diagnose, debug and construct. This needs to be fixed." Amen - can't wait to see a unified, structured solution to this challenge!
