The Java Commmunity Process is the way Java technology gets discussed, changed and improved. Anyone can participate in reviewing and providing feedback for the Java Specification Requests (JSRs), and anyone can sign up to become a JCP Member and then participate on the Expert Group of a JSR or even submit their own JSR Proposals. JavaOne is a great opportunity to meet and influence JCP members (and perhaps become one yourself!). As Java Champion Bruno Souza puts it: "The JCP has done important steps towards transparency, and is now moving forward to increase the participation of individual developers, making it a lot easier for developers to join even when their companies don't want to sign the long JCP documents. But, for this to really work, there must be pressure from developers, showing their interest that those things actually happen." Martijn Verburg of the London Java Community says "I'd *highly* recommend attendance at the public JCP EC meeting. With JavaEE 7 out the door and Java 8 pretty much done, it's a perfect time for you as engineers/developers/technical leaders to have a say in the future of the Java ecosystem."
The JCP office would like to extend an invitation to all developers at JavaOne to attend and participate in the JCP-related activities happening during the week. Some
highlights of events that you will not want to miss are below and
