The Java Embedded Challenge for Raspberry Pi started yesterday with a series of top notch lectures introducing the Raspberry Pi (RPi), and projects using with RPi
Globalcode Founder Vinicius Senger introduced the Raspberry Pi, its layout out, its configuration with other boards as well as hacking panels and the robot he built for the Challenge. The panels and the robot have sensors and APIs that attendees can access via a web server.
Java/Middleware/Core Software Engineer Mark Heck talked about his work with solar panels and embedded systems. Assistant Professor José Pereda from the University of Valladolid in Spain presented a great 3D simulation with the Leap Motion device. Bruno Borges of the GlassFish and Java EE team presented JavaFX for embedded systems.
During the first day attendees brainstormed, figured out the scope of their project, and started hacking. Come by today at 2:00pm for the training sessions and just to see what people are creating. The Challenge is on the 4th floor of Tower 3 at Hilton, Union Square 19/20 at JavaOne
