I often hear from customers that we don't have enough SOA Suite on premises sessions at Oracle OpenWorld. Well, here is an exciting SOA session with three amazing speakers, who will share their adventures with Oracle SOA Suite: Candace McAvaney from ALLETE/Minnesota Power, Mark Harrison from Eaton Corporation and Awais Bajwa from GE Digital.
Candace McAvaney is the senior Enterprise Application Integration architect/developer at ALLETE/Minnesota Power. In her over 10 years of development using the SOA framework, she has implemented nearly 100 interfaces between applications including the Oracle Customer Care and Billing application, IBM Maximo Work Management application, Oracle Enterprise Business System, GE Outage Management System, Sensus Automatic Metering/Smart Grid system, and Accruent Mobile Workforce application. She has presented sessions at the Oracle SOA Customer Advisory Board and the Minnesota Fusion Middleware User's Group.
During the OOW panel, Candace will provide Insight into ALLETE/Minnesota Power’s SOA Suite history, the reasoning behind selecting Oracle SOA Suite, their integration guidelines and best practices and what components they have been using. She will also spend a few minutes on their plans for a hybrid platform, spanning cloud and on premises.
Mark Harrison just completed 20 years’ service with Eaton Corporation. He was initially working as Oracle Applications DBA and DBA Manager and for the past 6 years working within the Integration space as Eaton Information Integration Manager. He is managing a virtual team of professionals (70+) who are responsible for the end 2 end business integration of systems across Eaton, business partners and customers (Internal/External). Amongst other technologies, they utilize Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Data Integration, Oracle OAG and MFT.
Mark is responsible for Integration strategy globally, project delivery (PM certified), enterprise integration support, vendor management and budget planning/tracking.
The focus of Mark’s presentation will be the use of Oracle SOA 12c within a traditional manufacturing environment at Eaton, from the use case to the implementation, best practices, lessons learned and future plans.
Awais Bajwa is an Enterprise IT leader (Integration & cloud technologies) for GE Digital. Awais started his career as a Java expert and is now a seasoned professional in the IT industry for 18 years. He has been exclusively focusing in Oracle technologies, integrations and Oracle ERPs for the last 11 years. He specializes in Oracle cloud PaaS and iPaaS platforms including OIC/ICS/PCS, traditional on-premises SOA, OCI and ERP integrations. Awais has extensive experience in rolling out large scale global Oracle program initiatives in different parts of the world including North America, Middle East and Asia. He is also passionate about Microservices Architecture, Event Driven Architecture, API-oriented integrations and Machine Learning. At GE Digital, he drives the strategy & roadmap for Oracle integration technologies and Cloud adoption that is founded in these modern architecture practices. Awais holds a master’s in computer science from Al-Khair university and he is originally from Lahore, Pakistan.
Avais will discuss GE’s SOA Suite use cases, the business value, their architectural governance for design-time and runtime and how they handle automation and monitoring. He will also go into details on best practices and lessons learned and the implementation of a business Use case leveraging API-Based approach. Finally, he will give a short overview of their next generation Oracle SOA and hybrid cloud roadmap and strategy, which includes SOA, BPM, SOA CS and OIC.
