Sending OIC notifications from an email address of your choice

Most of the avid OIC users are aware that the OIC notifications, whether it is system status reports or integration notifications, are sent out from an oracle address i.e. no-reply@oracle.com. But with the latest enhancements, OIC gives flexibility to the users to choose the sender for these notifications. OIC achieves this by providing a simple and intuitive UI, where a user can easily add a list of email addresses which can later be approved to qualify as an Approved Sender in OIC.

Let’s see how we can do this in a few simple steps:

  1. Navigate to the Notifications page.
  2. Here, you will see a table where you can add a list of email addresses that you want to register as Approved Senders with OIC.
  3. When you click on add button (plus sign) on the bottom right corner of the page, a new row is added to the table where you can enter an email address.

You can also choose one of the email addresses for sending System Notifications such as status report for successful message rate, service failure alerts etc.

  • You can do this by checking the box corresponding to email address of your choice. Please note that you can only choose one email address for sending System Notifications.
  1. When you are done entering the list of email addresses, click on Save.
  2. Upon saving, a confirmation e-mail is sent out to each of the email addresses in the list. Approval Status is changed to reflect the same information.
  3. The recipient of the email is then required to confirm his email address by clicking on the confirmation link in the mail. Sample snippet of the confirmation email is pasted below

  1. Upon confirmation, the Approval Status is changed to Approved.

           (To refresh the approval status, please use the refresh button on the top left corner of the section.)

Congratulations! You have an approved sender registered in OIC. You can now use this approved sender in the From Address section of Notification Action in the Integration Orchestration canvas as depicted below.

In additon to this, you can also choose this Approved Sender for sending System Notification.

Please note: In a scenario where a registered email address is still “Waiting for User Confirmation” and the user uses it in the Notification action or chooses it to send system notifications, then the sender will be defaulted to no-reply@oracle.com.

Hope this blog was able to shed some light on how OIC is helping users manage their notifications better, whether it is by providing the ability to register any number of email address or deleting a previously approved email address from the list of approved senders or changing the primary sender of System Notification any number of times.
