Oracle Integration - Adapter Enhancements to Non Oracle Applications

Overview

Oracle Integration (OIC) has a rich set of security capabilities to enable our customers to connect applications and technologies in a secure manner. We continue to enhance Oracle Integration to provide additional enhancements and features on existing Application Adapters.

In the November 2020 release, Oracle Integration added the following capabilities to third party application adapters:

  • Salesforce Adapter:  Enablement for Salesforce Government Cloud Customers
  • ServiceNow Adapter: Graceful downgrade of User Experience
  • PayPal Adapter Inbound Support and New Modules
  • Shopify Adapter New Modules

Salesforce Adapter:  Enablement for Salesforce Government Cloud Customers

In the recent past, the Salesforce Adapter was enhanced with the elimination of the need to upload the enterprise WSDL on the Connections page. With this enhancement the customers, who were using the Salesforce Government Cloud, were unable to create new connections due to login considerations as mentioned in this help document. With the November release, the Salesforce Adapter provides support to create a connection of the Salesforce.com application that can integrate with Salesforce Government Cloud.

You simply need to select the target Salesforce instance type as Government and provide your custom domain name and API version on the Connections page. So let's start with a quick tour of the new field on the Connection page:

Custom domain: This custom domain name is required only for those users who use Government Cloud or custom domain to log in to the Salesforce account. For Salesforce Non-Government instance types (that is, Production or Sandbox environment), the custom domain field is optional. This helps to maintain the backward compatibility and existing connections continue to work the same. You can know your custom domain name by following instructions mentioned in the Salesforce developer guide.

ServiceNow Adapter: Graceful downgrade of User Experience

The ServiceNow Adapter enables you to create an integration with ServiceNow in Oracle Integration. The ServiceNow Adapter has been enhanced to run with as few privileges as possible. With the update in November release, the integration user needs minimal accesses on the tables to configure the ServiceNow Adapter as a trigger or an invoke connection in an integration. A ServiceNow Adapter connection can be created with accesses on the following tables.

For Trigger connections:

  • sys_db_object
  • sys_soap_message
  • sys_soap_message_function
  • sys_script

For Invoke connections:

  • sys_db_object

However, with these permissions only the modules (not the applications) are displayed by the adapter in the wizard interface. So let's start with a quick tour of the new wizard interface.

PayPal Adapter Inbound Support and New Modules

PayPal is a global payment provider that enables vendors to receive payments digitally from their customers and make payments to their suppliers. The PayPal Adapter enables you to create an integration with a PayPal application in Oracle Integration. With the November release, the PayPal Adapter shall provide Inbound support, that is, it can be configured as a trigger connection in an integration for the events related to Billing, Invoicing, Payment, Checkout, and Catalog modules. So let's start with a quick tour of the wizard interface for a trigger connection:

Shopify Adapter New Modules

The Shopify Adapter enables you to create an integration with a Shopify application in Oracle Integration. Shopify Adapter with the update in November release extends the capabilities and provides invoke (target) connection support for performing various types of operations against objects from the Plus (Gift cards) and Shopify Payments modules. And provides trigger (source) connection support for performing various types of actions against events from the FulfillmentEvents and Fulfillments modules.

Summary

The features described here extend Oracle Integration by providing additional capabilities added to Salesforce, ServiceNow, Paypal and Shopify adapters. Oracle Integration continues to invest heavily in security features in the adapters, to provide our customers with the ability to connect applications and technologies in a most secure manner. We hope you will be able to take advantage of these new features.
