How to use File Reference in Stage File

Namratha Narayan
Project Lead, SOA

The Stage File action can read, write, zip, unzip and list files in a staged location known to Oracle Integration.

File reference can be used to utilize local file processing capabilities provided by Stage File action.

Advantages :

  • Any upstream operation which provides a file reference can be directly processed. Thus simplifies orchestration.
    • Ex. Rest Connection allows downloading of attachment into OIC/.attachment folder. It provides file reference but does not provide file name or directory.
  • OIC/ICS Operations that provides References:
    • Attachment Reference (Rest Adapter : Attachments)
    • Stream Reference (Rest Invoke response)
    • MTOM (Soap Invoke response)
    • FileReference ( FTP)
    • Base64FileReference(encodeString) function.

This is how the Stage File action Configure Operation page will look like for:

  • Read Entire File operation

'Configure File Reference' option will be available. This will be defaulted to No.

On selecting Yes, 'Specify the File Name' and 'Specify the Directory to read from' will be replaced with 'Specify the File Reference' field.

  • Read File in Segments operation

'Configure File Reference' option will be available. This will be defaulted to No.

On selecting Yes, 'Specify the File Name' and 'Specify the Directory to read from' will be replaced with 'Specify the File Reference' field.

  • Unzip File operation

'Configure File Reference' option will be available. This will be defaulted to No.

On selecting Yes, 'Specify the Zip File Name' and 'Specify the Zip File Directory' will be replaced with 'Specify the File Reference' field.

To specify the File Reference, you can click the Expression Builder icon to build an expression.

This is how file reference can be used to utilize local file processing capabilities provided by Stage File action.
