If your organization is like most, many of your critical enterprise workloads are still running on on-premises infrastructure. But the future of the digitized organization lies in a multi-cloud environment with the agility to respond to market shifts rapidly while still providing data sovereignty and compliance.

Application portability within a secure and agile infrastructure is the right way to go. The Oracle Private Cloud Appliance is an integrated, wire-once, software-defined infrastructure system that can radically simplify the way your organization installs, deploys, and manages virtual environments. This highly scalable hardware-software solution helps your organization achieve maximum efficiency with existing investments. The appliance also streamlines your eventual migration to cloud computing because it’s built on the same architecture as the Oracle public cloud.

The recently released sixth-generation Oracle Private Cloud Appliance X8-2 is 45 percent faster than the previous generation, offers 17X more storage, and is substantially more cost-effective, resulting in faster time to market and lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

Optimized for Savings

Oracle built Private Cloud Appliance from the ground up for cost savings and forward compatibility. In fact, its estimated TCO is 30 percent to 50 percent lower than competing solutions. Virtualization is included at no additional cost, so you won’t have to pay for VMware licenses, and Trusted Partitioning saves money on Oracle software licensing: You pay for the cores you use rather than full system capacity.

The integrated wire-once design and low latency software-defined networking helps future-proof your investment by scaling compute and storage on demand without re-cabling. The hardware is scalable from 2-25 nodes, one node at a time, with support for up to 15 additional capacity and flash storage trays and up to 8 fully isolated tenant groups. Oracle Private Cloud Appliance also reduces downtime costs with zero-downtime upgrades and Intelligent Management node failover. You can upgrade compute nodes at your own convenience on a per-tenant group basis independent of the Management nodes.

Intelligent Infrastructure

Oracle Private Cloud Appliance is designed for rapid and automated private cloud deployment. Whether running Linux, Windows, and Oracle Solaris applications or running containerized cloud native applications, Oracle Private Cloud Appliance supports consolidation for a wide range of mixed Oracle and non-Oracle workloads. With installation automation and the Oracle VM virtual appliances and migration tool, you can go from power-on to production in hours rather than months.

Oracle Private Cloud Appliance also supports Oracle Linux Cloud Native Environment (OL CNE) to automate deployment, scaling, and management of container workloads. And, it assures that applications are seamlessly portable to any Kubernetes-compliant platform.

Unified Management

Gaining visibility into and management of a multi-cloud environment—especially a multi-vendor hybridized cloud architecture—can be a drain on IT time and resources. But with Oracle Enterprise Manager you have unified management across public and private clouds. You can monitor usage via a single pane of glass, centrally provision storage, and execute disaster recovery at the push of a button.

Enterprise Manager lets you manage multitenancy securely and flexibly: Just enter a few basic configuration parameters to create VMs manually or leverage Oracle VM Templates and Assemblies to get a full application up and running in as little as two hours. A self-service portal and automatic service requests help streamline troubleshooting and save your team time and resources for more strategic work.

Cloud-Ready

Because Oracle Private Cloud Appliance is built on the same servers, virtualization, OS, and storage as Oracle Cloud, hybrid environments and cloud migrations are far easier to manage. Oracle Linux Cloud Native Environment (OL CNE) supports containers and orchestration with management and development tools while adhering to Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) standards to avoid vendor lock in. You gain application portability across a multi-cloud environment out of the box.

Your business needs IT infrastructure solutions that are not only agile, easy to use, and cost-effective, but also prepare your organization for eventual migration to the public cloud. You might consider a build-your-own, multi-vendor solution—if you’re looking to squeeze more life out of your current software solutions or to keep data on-premises to comply with regulations—but it won’t be optimized for your database or cloud-ready.

To modernize and be up and running fast, Oracle Private Cloud Appliance offers a fully integrated hardware/software solution that provides multitenancy, zero-downtime upgradability, capacity on demand, and single-pane-of-glass management right out of the box.
