What's new in Oracle BPM 11g PS6 - Webcast Q&A

Guest Author

Next to our Partner Webcast Oracle Business Process Management: What’s new in Oracle BPM delivered earlier this month on the 04th of July 2013, where we focused on the new features available in the latest release of the Oracle BPM 11g, we've received a few questions that we would like to address.

Here is a summary of these questions, along with some links to additional resources and content.

  • Q: Can Web Forms be customized using JDeveloper?
  • A: The Process Composer is the only tool which allows you to create and edit web forms. However, the definition of the web form is part of the composite so you can find it under the /forms directory after you export the project from Composer and import it back to JDeveloper. You cannot edit it or even see it while working in JDeveloper though.
  • Q: What other features, besides Process Player, are available in the Process Composer, that would make it the preferred solution over JDeveloper?
  • A: The Process Player is the main and only feature which is available in Composer and not in JDeveloper. On the other hand you can create the ADF forms only in JDeveloper and not in Composer. I would suggest then that you stick to the original target use cases for both tools.
Business Analysts better go with Process Composer
    Process Developers better use JDeveloper.
  • Q: Can the process player work with ADF pages?
A: Yes, it works with both Web Forms and ADF TaskFlows.
