Oracle Buys GoldenGate Software
Adds Leading Real-time Data Integration Solution to Create Comprehensive Heterogeneous Data Integration PlatformRedwood Shores, Calif, July 23, 2009 ( http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/press/022092 )
Oracle GoldenGate provides low-impact capture, routing, transformation, and delivery of transactional data across heterogeneous environments in real time.
Oracle Goldengate Key differentiators
- Low Performance Impact:
Oracle GG capture process has minimum overhead on source and target database system. It just constantly reads transaction logs and converts them into its transaction format written inside the trial files. Compared to the similar replication tools it has the flexibility of reading the transaction information without depending on the source database software brings a unique differentiator to GG.
- Flexible and Extensible
GG has the flexibility of running between heterogeneous source and target systems.
Let’s explain with some examples:
Source system MS SQL server --> Target system Oracle
Source system IBM DB2 --> Target system Sybase
Source system MS SQL server --> Target system MS SQL server
Source system Oracle 10.2.0.4 on AIX --> Target system Oracle 188.8.131.52 on Linux x86 and so on..
It is not a big deal to upgrade a source or target Oracle system of Goldengate from 184.108.40.206 to 220.127.116.11 for instance, because it just captures from Oracle’s transaction logfiles.
Oracle Goldengate is so resilient to the failures of source – target or connectivity issues. Its reliability is proved by lots of mission critical systems of leading companies.
Oracle Goldengate Use Cases:
Same Oracle GoldenGate software can be used for several different purposes like:
- Disaster Recovery
- Zero downtime migrations – Upgrades
- Operational Reporting
- Real-time BI
- Query Offloading
- Distributed Data Management
