Oracle Development Tools for Windows & .NET

Oracle .NET

Interoperability between Oracle and Microsoft technologies around Oracle database support on Windows and with .NET application development have been substantial for years. The latest generation of the world’s most popular database has been designed for the Cloud with the new multitenant architecture and several other extensive enhancements and new features, including a new set of developer tools .

Oracle offers a complete and integrated set of application development and business intelligence tools that supports any development approach, any technology platform, and any operating system. With Oracle's extensive support, developers can take full advantage of all new features.
Amongst the new Developer Tools, .NET Development is fully supported through Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) and specific Developer Tools for Visual Studio.

The latest Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) 12c Release 2 can now be downloaded from OTN.
ODAC includes

  • Oracle Data Provider for .NET (see features),
  • Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio (ODT) (see features),
  • Oracle Providers for ASP.NET (see features),
  • .NET stored procedure support, as well as additional Oracle data access software for Windows
This release introduces Visual Studio 2013 and .NET Framework 4.5.1 support, as well as 100% managed driver; multitenant container database support; High Availability and Scalability; Ease of Use and Application Migration; Entity Framework; Schema Compare tools to view differences between two schemas and generate a diff script that can modify a target schema to match the source schema; and much more.

Visit OTN and get the latest 12.1.0.1.2 release but also checkout the available tutorials and guided walkthroughs with Oracle Database 12c (demos)
Make sure to checkout the OOW13 presentations about Oracle on Windows and .Net and take a look at Oracle Learning Library .Net and Visual Studio Series for more practical examples.
ODAC Installation instructions are available here. You will of course need Microsoft Visual Studio and Oracle Database 9.2 or later.

This is really very easy to use and configure, so you should not have any issues. Have a Nice Development.
