Big Data SQL 3.1 is Now Available!

Oracle Big Data SQL 3.1 is Now Available!

We are excited to announce that Oracle Big Data SQL 3.1 is now available.  Big Data SQL 3.1 is another major milestone as we continue to expand deployment options and introduce new, innovative capabilities.

Oracle Exadata is the industry's leading data warehousing platform.  With Big Data SQL 3.1, Exadata (running Oracle Database 12c) will now be able to query data stored on commodity Cloudera and Hortonworks hadoop clusters.  This greatly expands the addressable market for our solution.  To summarize, Big Data SQL now supports:
  • Exadata to Big Data Appliance
  • Exadata to commodity hadoop clusters (CDH & HDP)
  • Oracle Database 12c to Big Data Appliance
  • Oracle Database 12c to commodity hadoop clusters
  • Oracle SuperCluster to Big Data Appliance (not certified yet)

Oracle Big Data SQL also enhances information lifecycle management capabilities.  Copy to Hadoop now provides direct copy of Oracle data to HDFS - using both a CLI and SQL Developer (requires EA release).  In addition, Oracle Database tablespaces can be archived to HDFS;  queries that run against these tablespaces will utilize both Smart Scan and native database query optimizations (indexes, in-memory, HCC, etc) for fast performance.

Getting Started:
Big Data SQL requires installation on both the Oracle Database and Hadoop Cluster:
  • Oracle Database 12c Requirements:
    • Bundle Patch: - Oct 2016
    • Big Data SQL 1-off Database patch to above bundle patch
  • Big Data SQL 3.1 Software Bundle (available on edelivery)
  • Documentation
  • Master Compatibility Matrix

Hi, seems not to be available on edelivery (only 3.0.1). Do you know where to find it?
