The recovery forecast is clearly improving: 64% of hotels expect to be back to pre-COVID-19 occupancy levels by mid-2022, according to a recent Deloitte study.

As a result, it’s imperative for hoteliers to be ready to offer new services and better experiences to meet guests’ demands and expectations for a post-pandemic era.

Which means the time to innovate is now.

That’s why we kicked off Oracle Hospitality Innovation Week on March 22. A live and on-demand digital event, Innovation Week is designed for an array of hospitality partners and prospects to join Oracle integration experts in a series of webinar and on-demand sessions to explore the best ideas for hospitality solutions – and find pathways to make them reality.

As much as Oracle invests in R&D to make emerging technologies native to its solutions, it’s equally committed to building the foremost partner ecosystem to readily incorporate best-of-breed solutions, regardless of their origin. Providing hoteliers with both assures faster speed-to-market, greater return on investment, and improved adaptability to whatever comes next.

The objective of Innovation Week is to provide an open forum for customers’ evolving technology needs and inform partners about Oracle Hospitality’s integration initiatives, and the capabilities and benefits of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) and Oracle Cloud marketplace.

Nothing underscores Oracle Hospitality’s commitment to innovation more than our open architecture and APIs. We’ve been repeating our mantra – “We’re seriously open” – for a while now, especially because we’ve released more than 3,000 REST API capabilities – the most in the hospitality industry, according to Hospitality Net. And today, we’re excited to announce our latest development: We’re beyond open. We’re open without restrictions.

Our APIs are now openly accessible through GitHub and released under the UPL license model. That means our partners can:

  • Openly reference or reuse from our REST API specifications
  • Contribute to the evolution of our specifications and Postman collections
  • Help improve our specifications and collections by reporting issues and suggestions

This action is a direct response to customers and partners who’ve requested the ability to reuse – or pursue their own inspirations from – our API specifications, making them the industry reference.

Innovation Week also provides continuing education about Oracle Hospitality Integration Platform. Launched late last year – and updated already with five production releases – OHIP allows partners and vendors to connect to our OPERA Cloud PMS, giving them unimpeded access to the data and functionality within it for faster product development. OHIP represents a reinvention of Oracle’s integration model, literally “changing the way the game is played”: OHIP enables innovations that improve hotel operations and elevate guest experience, and makes them available in a matter of days and weeks rather than months and years.

In the past, partners couldn’t even begin an integration without engaging Oracle Consulting for guidance. But with OHIP, every integration is now a self-service experience. Users simply register for OHIP and they can immediately take advantage of every capability on their own, without assistance, because of the platform’s intuitive design. Another distinctive OHIP benefit is its creation of two-way integrations, meaning data can be “pushed” as well as “pulled,” leading to near real-time access to information via a reactive/event streaming architecture.

Our integration community is rapidly growing: We’ve already onboarded more than 100 early adopters, and 13 partners have shared their OHIP-based solutions in the Oracle Cloud marketplace.

Innovation Week continues through March 25 with a variety of sessions, including Ask the Experts and webinars such as:

  • Live Demonstration of Contactless APIs (live webinar, 3/23)
  • Live Partner Panel (live webinar, 3/23)
  • Understanding OHIP Security Features and Best Practices (on-demand session)
  • Understanding Apiary Documentation & Postman Collections (on-demand session)
  • Oracle MICROS Simphony POS Transaction Services Industry Use Cases (on-demand session)
