Cloud Hotel Tech: Minimizing Effort, Maximizing Value

Co-written by: Sundar Swaminathan, Director, Hotel Solutions Marketing, and Samantha Renner, Marketing Specialist

As is the case with most industries today, technology plays a critical role in the success of a hotel business. It has permeated every aspect of the customer journey, from search and booking, to check-in and stay, and certainly check-out and beyond. Technology has enriched not only the guest experience, but the staff and enterprise’s experience as well – streamlining business operations, providing greater data visibility and information security, and enabling the delivery of a higher standard of overall service and brand consistency.

In their quest to customize their technology solutions to meet their unique needs, hotels have made their technology platforms too complex. With the current technology in use at hotels today, every property has computer servers that need to be managed and maintained. With growth through mergers and acquisitions, large hotel groups often have many different property management systems across their properties, and many different point-of-sale systems to manage their restaurant operations. Hotels need to centralize their IT systems and minimize the IT complexity in their properties. This will enable them to deploy new capabilities more quickly and lower their overall IT costs. Hotels also need to secure their data, especially the guest data that is now spread across multiple properties and multiple systems so they can get a more unified view of their guests.

The answer for hotels is to move their core enterprise systems including their systems for property management to the cloud.

Cloud technologies are transforming enterprises across many different industries across the globe. It is time for the hotel industry to adopt the cloud for its operational platforms. The cloud is already changing the way innovative hotels conduct business and run their IT, and here’s how:
