Why develop with Java SE Embedded on Raspberry Pi?

Why would you want to develop using Java SE Embedded technology on your Raspberry Pi? Why? Well, that question is like, "Why would you want to breathe in air?" It's just natural, of course.

There are numerous reasons that make Java an attractive platform for developing embedded type applications using the Raspberry Pi: The very comprehensive set of included class libraries. Java SE 7 has almost 4000 class libraries covering everything from data structures to concurrency to networking.
