OpenLaszlo on GlassFish and Sun Java Application Server 9.0

OpenLaszlo is a platform to create rich internet applications (read AJAX applications).

I configured OpenLaszlo to deploy and run on GlassFish/SJSAS9.0. I created a simple webservice through Netbeans and deployed on GlassFish/SJSAS9.0. I followed it up with an OpenLaszlo rich client to invoke the webservice using XML-RPC. The application mimics "Test" web service button in the GlassFish/SJSAS9.0 admin ui page. This was a simple proof of concept to test OpenLaszlo on GlassFish/SJSAS9.0.

Head over to GlassFish Wiki if you want to learn how to configure OpenLaszlo on GlassFish and see a snapshot of my client application.

Hi, I tried your example and it worked fine. However when I am trying to use a RPC style Web Service returning a String array it is failing. Also I tried to use a document style Web Service. Here it can return String array return type but I was not able to pass any parameters. Can you provide some tips with either of the cases.

Hi I am not an expert on OpenLaszlo and these seem lik e Laszlo issues. My understanding of Laszlo has been that it lends itself better to Document Style Web Services. I would recommend looking at the OpenLaszlo documentation at OpenLaszlo.org. If you send me a stack trace at harpreet . singh at sun . com - I maybe able to give u bit more information. -Thanks Harpreet

An update for the latest Legals build from Laszio:

The dependencies are now made available and no longer require extra downloads.

Simply download the bits from Laszio, uncompress, go to the directory
${HOME}/lps-4.0.pr4/Server/lps-4.0.pr4

make a war file:

jar -cvf ../lps.war \*

and deploy the war file into glassfish

Thats it! sj

Hi There, LPS 4.0 is now out in beta 1 - see http://www.openlaszlo.org/download#legals) If you want to use RPC style web services (anything other than REST) you'll need to use 3.x or wait for beta 2. Thanks, and keep up the good work! Regards, Max Carlson OpenLaszlo.org

I tried using OpenLaszlo3.3.3. When using RPC or Document style there seems to be a problem in send any non-string (binary, int etc.) arguments. On checking web services message, I do find that those arguments reached glassfish end, but did not find their way into the web service implementation. They seem to have a different XML schema as compared to the web services test generated XML schema. Any suggestions on what debugging/logging can be done on glassfish will be much appreciated. Since I can't get a clue as why the arguments were ignored.
