Special Interest Group on Mobile Development

Many analysts are predicting that mobile application will be a gamechanger for businesses.  Infact its probably fair to say that "big business" is playing catch-up with consumer driven mobile applications.  So it is timely that the UKOUG are running a Special Interest Group on Mobile development.  This full day session will include presentations on native mobile development, ADF Mobile and Application Express.  There will also be discussion on the legal and security aspects of mobile development followed by an open discussion.  Its taking place at the Oracle offices in BVP (Birmingham, UK) on the 5th Feb 2013.  Last time I checked there were about 10 places left.

Mobile Application development - get hands on at UKOUG

Development of mobile solutions is one of the hottest topics in the IT market at the moment.  Forbes predicts that mobile application development with outstrip native PC development by 4-1 by 2015.  I'm therefor delighted to announce that the UKOUG and Oracle have synch'd up to provide a rolling 3 day hands-on Mobile development lab at the UKOUG conference this year.

We're setting up a lab of 10 Mac machines in which you will be able to develop iOS on-device applications.  And the great thing is, if you want to develop for Android, its the same lab as well!  Just think, write once and deploy to iOS or Android.

We know places will be limited so we are going to be putting in place a first-come-first-served booking system.  Walk-ups will be allowed only if places are free.

This is your chance to start skilling up on the hottest development initiative in years.

p.s you have to be registered for the conference to attend.

Great ADF training day organized by the UKOUG

Yesterday I delivered a full day of ADF training organized by the UKOUG.  This event was in response to a comment at the last UKOUG Roundtable session where someone commented that they hadn't had anyone come and talk to them about ADF.  So I promised that if the UKOUG could fill a room, I would come along and tell them everything they wanted about ADF.  And this was the day!  50 people attended to hear about Fusion, ADF and JDeveloper - and get hours of demos!  So it just goes to show, UKOUG and TEBS conference can be a way of influencing what happens in the Oracle community.

Thanks to all who attended, and thanks for the lively discussions and questions..

If you are looking for more ADF training there are is the free online virtual developer day  - details here

Understanding what Oracle tools to use

A common question that comes up from customers is "which Oracle tool should I be using?" Forms? ADF? Apex? and then throw into the mix Web Center, BPM, SOA, SQL Developer! To address the common questions, and to no doubt kick off some lively debate, the UKOUG are running an "Oracle Development Tools Landscape" SIG on the 22nd of June in the Oracle London City office. This event will be a mix of strategy, demo and customer use cases and includes some a leading experts on Oracle Development tools - from both inside and outside of Oracle.
