There have been literally millions of man-hours of research into how to design the user experience of Oracle's Fusion Application - this goes beyond colors and fonts and is about how humans interact with IT applications. Its a science I don't understand but now I don't have to...Now you can learn from the UX experience of Fusion applications. Oracle has just published the design patterns for Fusion Applications. These show things like common flow and page layout. This is part of a larger usability site for Oracle Applications which are driving new standards in usability.
So, for those building Oracle ADF applications, you have at your fingertips the collective brain-dump from our UX specialists to ensure you can build accessible, usable, engaging and exciting applications.

There have been a few threads regarding problems with the auto update of the JRE and Oracle Forms applications. See this entry from Steve Chan and this entry on the error FRM-92095: Oracle Jnitiator version too low - please install version 22.214.171.124 or higher. There are a few points to be aware of so Support have written up a note to hopefully make things clearer. Log onto your Oracle support account and search for Note: 1470123.1.

So you want to learn ADF, and you want to learn ADF online.
I've blogged in the past about the wealth of material online for learning ADF. Infact, there is so much content available, we have a 10 minute video just explaining where that content exits!
However, sometimes nothing beats instructor lead training. Oracle University has a number of live courses which you can attend, but sometimes travel restrictions can make that option difficult. So what if the trainer could come to you, whenever you require? Well now you have the option. OU have released Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g: Build Applications with ADF I TOD (Training On Demand), which brings a "live" class and instructor, direct to your desktop. This way you can learn JDeveloper and ADF at your own pace, from your own home or office, without the cost and hassle of travel/hotel/costs.
So, no excuses for getting skilled up in ADF then!

I'm looking for a candidate to join our Product Management team who will be responsible for helping others learn. The technology is Oracle ADF/JDeveloper but what is possibly more important is your ability to design learning aids, tutorials, a training material. So if you are an instructional designer with an eye for technologies
like ADF, and excel at creatively
producing technical content, then I'd like to hear from you. More details on Lynn's blog.

The following Gartner report might be an interesting read for Forms customers. Anyone considering their Oracle Forms future, migration, tool based migration or even Apex. Some VERY interesting comments about each of these.
As you know from our Forms Statement of Direction, we are still supporting and developing Oracle Forms and I'm pretty happy that the Gartner report acknowledges that Forms remains a viable option for your current IT strategy and that for those looking to migrate, that JDeveloper and ADF represent the lowest risk factor.
The report also makes an interesting observation with respect Apex: where it fits, and also doesn't fit, as a Forms alternative.

I'll be demonstrating the Oracle Fusion development experience and delivering an Oracle ADF Masterclass in Portugal on the 12th and 13th of April 2012. This will be an opportunity to find out how Oracle develops their Fusion applications and an overview of the framework which is at the heard of Oracle's future: Oracle ADF.
I'll also be part of a Q&A panel, so any questions on Forms/ADF, this is your chance!
