I'm very pleased to announce that we are launching a new on line learning initiative called ADF Academy. The first release is focused on ADF Mobile. This is an interactive learning course which includes interviews with ADF Mobile experts, live demos, and quizes; all delivered through an engaging and dynamic learning style. The whole idea is to move away from the bullet point driven learning we often see, and instead move to a much more engaging model of learning.
I'm really excited to release this course and we're keen to hear your feedback.
For ANYONE who is learning ADF Mobile, this is the place to start your learning journey.

My team has developed about a weeks worth of ADF training material under the title ADF Insider and ADF Insider Essentials. This has been available from our page on OTN. But we are now loading all our content on YouTube as well so the content can now be accessed on iPads. Over the next couple of weeks we'll also add these YouTube links to the OTN page but in the meantime, if you have an interest in ADF I strongly urge you to subscribe to our ADFInsiderEssentials YouTube Channel so you can be alerted when new content comes on line.
Please also leave comments, thumbs up/down, and let us know what content/topics you want...

The second part of the advanced ADF on line ecourse is now live. This covers the advanced topics of region and region interaction as well as getting down and dirty with some of the layout features of ADF Faces, skinning and DVT components. The aim of this course is to give you a self-paced learning aid which covers the more advanced topics of ADF development. The content is developed by Product Management and our Curriculum development teams and is based on advanced training material we've been running internally for about 18 months.

So you want to learn ADF, and you want to learn ADF online.
I've blogged in the past about the wealth of material online for learning ADF. Infact, there is so much content available, we have a 10 minute video just explaining where that content exits!
However, sometimes nothing beats instructor lead training. Oracle University has a number of live courses which you can attend, but sometimes travel restrictions can make that option difficult. So what if the trainer could come to you, whenever you require? Well now you have the option. OU have released Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g: Build Applications with ADF I TOD (Training On Demand), which brings a "live" class and instructor, direct to your desktop. This way you can learn JDeveloper and ADF at your own pace, from your own home or office, without the cost and hassle of travel/hotel/costs.
So, no excuses for getting skilled up in ADF then!

Early last year, my team developed an advanced ADF course that we ran globally, primarily to our internal Oracle audience. However, we had such demand for this, we wanted to find a scalable way of delivering the same training, but at your pace, and without the cost associated with travelling. We've therefore developed an Advanced ADF ecourse. Part 1 of the the course has just been released and aims to take you from a quick overview of ADF, through bindings, project development and task flows. In the coming weeks we will be releasing the other parts of the course. Each lesson takes you through a structured set of videos to watch, then quizzes to test your knowledge. You will also be encouraged to try some hands-on lessons.
The course is delivered with a structured menu layout which will guide you through you learning experience allowing you to review your progress and see what lessons are up and coming.
We hope that this will be a valuable aid in helping you become proficient in Oracle ADF.

One of the most common questions I hear is "How do I learn Oracle ADF". At Oracle World this year I presented a session on learning ADF and tried to summarise the sessions in one single graphic. I call this the ADF Learning Pyramid. Skills you need build on other core skills and depending on your job role you might only need to reach the first level of the pyramid. However, what I have tried to show is one suggestion of the resources you could use, and the skills you will need, each each of these levels.
Of course, this isn't the ONLY way to learn ADF, but having been through this myself, and helped many others, its one option I'd offer and a possible plan to learning Oracle ADF. As always, comments welcome. (larger image here)
