Exciting news, we're announcing the release of ADF Essentials, the core of Oracle ADF as a free edition which can run on Glassfish.  Now if you want the productivity of ADF in your Java environment, you can.  You don't need WebLogic Server, and you don't have to pay for it either!  Full details of the announcement on OTN.

Oracle Forms Futures Webinar - 24th Sept 2012

We're running a webinar next week outlining strategy/options/future for customers running Oracle Forms applications.  Details of the webinar can be found here.  For anyone with an investment in Oracle Forms I'd suggesting taking 60 minutes out of your day to get some official guidance from Oracle.

ADF training material now on the iPad

My team has developed about a weeks worth of ADF training material under the title ADF Insider and ADF Insider Essentials.  This has been available from our page on OTN.  But we are now loading all our content on YouTube as well so the content can now be accessed on iPads.  Over the next couple of weeks we'll also add these YouTube links to the OTN page but in the meantime, if you have an interest in ADF I strongly urge you to subscribe to our ADFInsiderEssentials YouTube Channel so you can be alerted when new content comes on line.

Please also leave comments, thumbs up/down, and let us know what content/topics you want...

Oracle Forms at Oracle World - A community event!

You know, fashions come and go, and Oracle Forms has had its fair share of people with "opinions" on its future (or lack of), but at Oracle World 2012 this year we're seeing a real buzz around our favourite RAD tool.

Monday 1st October, Session BOF6342 "The Future of Oracle Forms: Upgrade, Modernize, or Migrate?" - I will be delivering an insight into the future of Forms.  One thing I can share with you, if you haven't pre-registered then you should do...quickly! - This is in a room for 164 and we've less than 30 places left with 3 weeks still to go!

Tuesday 2nd October CON5639 - Give Your Forms a Face-lift: Tips and Tricks for Oracle Forms GUI Modernization which will be delivered by Mia Urman of OraPlayer.  Mia is also working on a Forms Q&A panel as part of this session so you can question some of the leading Forms experts in the field.

This session will then lead into another by Oracle partner and all round Guru, Lucas Jellama from Amis: Tuesday 2nd October CON4827 - The Future of Forms Is … Oracle Forms (and Friends)

For those making the move from Oracle Forms to ADF there will be three very relevant sessions:

CON3531 - How to Migrate an Oracle Forms Application to Oracle ADF

UGF3783 - Oracle ADF Immersion: How an Oracle Forms Developer Immersed Himself in the Oracle ADF World

BOF4492 - How to Get Started with Oracle ADF

We'll also have a dedicated Forms demo booth in the main demo area in Moscone at which myself, the Forms Development Director and a Senior Principal Support engineer will be happy to talk to you about Forms.

Not a bad line up for Oracle Forms!

55 and counting: ADF and Forms sessions at Oracle World

There is a phenomenal agenda of Forms, ADF and JDeveloper running at Oracle World this year.  So far, I can see about 55 sessions which are directly related to my product areas (Forms, JDeveloper and Oracle ADF).  These range from high-level strategic keynotes, to deep dives and hands on sessions from some of the best known names in ADF and Forms.  As we get nearer the kick off date I'm going to call out a number of these sessions but if you are considering whether OracleWorld is a good way of spending your training dollars my answer would be an emphatic YES!
