Cloudy Skies Ahead - GTC East in Albany, NY

I just back after speaking in the GTC East event in Albany, NY.  It was well attended with about 100 people showing up.  I talked about how data center consolidation is the new private cloud and how this consolidation is starting to transcend hypervisor based OS Virtualization and into the area of service driven consolidation ( be it database as a service or content as a service or collaboration as a service).  I also talked about the fact that this consolidation is allowing data center folks to look at bringing compute and storage services together thereby making things more secure and more manageable. Given Oracle's recent announcement as it relates to ExaLogic - this message resonated well with the audience.
