Slowness Detector for NetBeans Platform Applications

Geertjan Wielenga

One of the many interesting features that you get for free when you use the NetBeans Platform as the basis of your applications is... a slowness detector.

If you've used a development build of NetBeans IDE, you might have seen this feature in that context. When some process takes a very long time, a message pops up in the bottom right of the IDE, inviting you to create a new issue, with all the data gathered by the slowness detector for the slow process that has been identified.

That same functionality can really help you gather issues, with relevant data, during the development phase of your own applications too:

Florian Vogler, NetBeans dream team member, tells you all about this mechanism, how to set it up, and all the code involved here on java.net.
