Kenai, OpenStreetMap, Twitter, and NetBeans Platform

The question of the day comes from Beijing today! Gao Ang writes:

I built a Twitter NetBeans application with OpenStreetMap and NetBeans Platform 6.7 Beta. Prototype screenshot of this application is available in the attachment. I plan to update this project on kenai.com as soon as my project request is approved. I found on your blog that you also made a Twitter plugins for NB 6.5. Can I merge my code with your plugins and make the Twitter NetBeans application better?

And the answer to the question of the day is: "Yes." :-)

As soon as the Kenai project request is approved, I'd be very happy to join it. It's also very cool, because so many of the current 'hot technologies' are combined, or leveraged, in this application—Twitter, OpenStreetMap, NetBeans Platform, and Kenai.

Here's the screenshot Gao sent me (click to enlarge it):

The cool thing is also that the above is a full blown standalone NetBeans Platform application, rather than the plugins I created a while ago for NetBeans IDE. Even at this stage the above could be added to the NetBeans Platform Showcase!

    thanks geertjan

I'll contribute sourcecode of this project to Kenai.com once it's approved.

There are still some improvement that should be done. I'd like to make it easy-to-use in future.

At sun tech days in India, I had got 3 project invitations along with my project approvals, what better can I put them to ;)

So if the Kenai approval queue is long and you are still waiting for the project approval, just put me a mail with your Email ID and I'll send you an Invite to start the project . . .

Thanks Sven! Didn't know about this project, blogged about it today. Now when are you going to send me screenshots of YOUR several NetBeans Platform applications? I will buy you a beer in SF for each of them. :-)
